Dr. Mohammad Astaneh Asl, cultural activist says special attention should be paid to digital books.
According to the news headquarters of the 34th Tehran International Book Fair, a meaning of cultural diplomacy has been introduced as bargaining to reach goals that unite human societies. Achieving these goals is based on common cultural factors between societies. As a rule, countries with a richer culture will have the ability to absorb more. “Book” is an important factor and medium in the dialogue between cultures, and the publishing industry of any country with a long and rich cultural history is a place for these dialogues.
Tehran International Book Fair, which we are on the verge of its 34th period, can be considered an important factor in cultural diplomacy because it is the result of Iran's rich publishing industry. For this reason, the news staff of this period of the exhibition decided to ask about the Tehran International Book Fair in a conversation with some of the world's great intellectuals and scholars, and it can be said that the goodness of these conversations is the introduction of this fair to these thinkers.
In this respect, Dr. Mohammad Astaneh Asl, cultural activist, in response to the question of whether he is familiar with the Tehran Book Fair and whether he would like to see it, says: “I have been present in most book fairs in Tehran. Because of cultural activities, I have always attended this exhibition and benefited from it.”
In answers to the role of books in cultural diplomacy he says to the news headquarters of the 34th Tehran International Book Fair: The book is the foundation of all cultural, identity and national affairs. For example, the Quran, which is the holy book of Muslims, is in every Muslim home. People of other religious cultures also have their favorite books.
He adds that “The book is the main foundations of culture. In any field, you should refer to the book and it is the basis of everything, including ethics. Turkish scientific books are less interesting in other geographical regions due to the language difference. At the same time, scientific books of the West are being published in different regions of the world.”
Dr. Mohammad Astaneh Asl believes: In new sciences, digital books should be paid attention to, and it was appropriate to pay more attention to these books in this exhibition. The good thing about these books is that they are easy to access. Digital libraries make it possible to connect to the world's best resources with one click.
He says: "Regarding the importance of the book, it should be noted that the first surah revealed to Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), God says to him “Iqra” and another emphasis is on writing “Ma Yastron”."
“Currently, digital books make it possible for people who are illiterate to listen and benefit from it. There is no need for a book lover to suffer the difficulty of having a physical copy,” Dr. Astaneh Asl told to the news headquarters of the 34th Tehran International Book Fair.
He says: Turkey is very active in the field of books and has good cultural relations with Iran. These connections can provide the basis for expanding cooperation in other political and economic fields, etc.
