Chair of parliamentary committee on cultural affairs in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Majlis suggested authorities consider building the much-awaited permanent venue for Tehran International Book Fair on the current Evin Prison premises northwest Tehran.

Qolam-Ali Haddad A'adil was speaking to the book fair's press office when asked about any likely decision by the parliament concerning the issue. He said the parliament would never decide on any such locations independently before consulting President Ahmadinejad Administration.

The senior lawmaker made the remarks while making a joint inspection of the book fair along with several other members of the parliament.

He said the choice of a permanent venue for the landmark cultural event was not a ceremonial assignment, adding nowadays books make a part of daily life and the situation turns even more significant every passing year.

The lawmaker touched on the bustling corridors of the fairground and said the Imam Khomeini Mosalla courtyard was smaller than accommodate so large number of inspectors.

He said the parliament would wait until a certain location is collectively agreed upon by the authorities and the society as a whole and then, it would be up to the administration to apply for a line of credit in the parliament. "Majlis would increase the Budget figures then to meet the demand," he added.
