Iranian cultural delegation arrives in Moscow

An Iranian cultural delegation arrived in Moscow on Tuesday to attend the 28th Moscow International Book Fair opening today.

Iran is the guest of honor at the fair and the delegation including a number of officials, scholars, writers, artists, cultural figures and publishers will be offering a wide range of programs at the fair.
Deputy Culture Minister for Cultural Affairs Seyyed Abbas Salehi and director of the Art and Cultural Organization of Tehran Municipality Mahmud Salahi are also accompanying the delegation, which aims to introduce Iran’s rich art and culture to the Russian nation.
Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati and Chairman of the Russian State Duma Sergei Naryshkin are scheduled to open the fair, Iran’s Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanaii told the Persian service of IRNA on Tuesday.

A number of programs have been arranged for Iranian writers and publishers to meet with Russian writers and publishers.


Moscow will also be hosting Tehran’s Cultural Festival during the four-day book fair.



Iranian tar and setar virtuoso Keyvan Saket along with Vaziri ensemble will be performing Iranian traditional music on the opening day, while performances of kheimeh shab-bazi and naqqali have also been planned for the opening day.

Thousands of three-dimensional photos introducing Tehran in brief Russian notes will go on show in an exhibit, while an exhibition of cartoons will also be set up at the festival.

Mir Jalaleddin Kazzazi, an expert on Persian poet Ferdowsi’s epic masterpiece Shahnameh, and a number of Russian experts on Shahnameh are due to meet during the fair.
