Armenian envoy terms TIBF a chance for expansion of cultural exchanges among nations

Armenian ambassador to Tehran described Tehran International Book Fair as a good opportunity for different nations to expand their bilateral and multilateral cultural relations.

 

Grigor Arakelyan was speaking to the book fair's press office on the sidelines of the landmark cultural event Thursday.

 

The envoy said books help individuals to get further knowledge about the customs and traditions of other nations and that book fairs could offer a good chance for obtaining such knowledge.

 

Grigor Arakelyan said the two neighbors of Iran and Armenia have many common grounds to discus about, adding however that the two must further elevate the levels of their bilateral ties. Mr. Arakelyan also announced that the Armenian culture minister would soon visit Tehran on an invitation by his Iranian counterpart.

 

In another regard, the Armenian ambassador to Tehran called Tehran International Book Fair a landmark, immense and interesting event. He expressed wonder at "the exceptional turnout of visitors" to the international cultural event.

 

Grigor Arakelyan said a similar exhibit was set to be held next year in Armenia, adding that the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) had designated Armenia's capital as international book center in a gesture to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the date a first ever book was published in the country.

 

According to the Armenian ambassador, the Islamic Republic of Iran and Armenia have mutually agreed to host Cultural Week ceremonies for the other side some time in fall. Mr. Arakelyan maintained that the cultural events would further elevate the bilateral ties between the two neighbors.
