Contemporary Afghan poetry reviewed in 24th Tehran International Book Fair

A panel discussion was staged Thursday in 24th edition of Tehran International Book Fair on the status of modern and post-modern poetry in the contemporary Afghan literary tradition, the book fair's press office reported.

 
Held in the Latin titles hall in the fairground, the panelists discussed the position of mind and expression in literature as well as application of key symbolic terms in conveying of realities on the ground in society, it added.
 
The session also examined other elements of the contemporary Afghan poetry, namely sense of despair and depression, sectarian and local contents, ambiguity and protest, and the impact of modernism on Afghan poets.
 
The panel discussion also heard about a lack of attention on the part Afghan poets to how the audience might understand the theme of poem.
 
The panel discussion was organized by Afghan Literature House, on a visit to Tehran for the 24th book fair. The panel discussion in the meantime listened to poems recited by several contemporary Afghan poets.
