IRI Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance has decided to extend more book sales facilities to university students and authors from provincial areas by covering up to half of the costs of the sales they make through voucher cards in the 24th Tehran International Book Fair.

That was according to Bahman Dorri, Chief Executive of the landmark cultural event, who also told the book fair's press office that the facilities were part of total 40 billion rials (≈ $4m) in book sales facilities earmarked for provincial-based university students and authors.

Mr. Dorri said total 20 billion rials (≈ $2m) in book sales facilities were also granted to Tehran-based university students in the form of electronic vouchers.

Meanwhile, a senior Chinese cultural authority visiting the fair welcomed the Iranian scheme of voucher cards, describing it as an effective initiative for stimulating public spending in publication.

Deputy Chinese Director of General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP), Yu Shu Lin had made the remarks in a talk with the IRI Minster of Culture and Islamic Guidance Sayyed Muhammad Husseini last week on the first day of the 10-day cultural event.
