Polish ambassador stressors expansion of ties with Iran

IBNA- At a meeting with Director of the 31st Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) Mohsen Javadi, Polish ambassador to Iran Jarosław Domański stressed on expansion of cultural relations with Iran. 

Jarosław Marcin Domański said at the meeting: “When I was informed about Tehran International Book Fair, I became interested to attend this event. However I didn't expect to be welcomed to that extent and I suppose that such a warm welcome is due to the long term historical, cultural and political relations between the two countries. 

“The relations between Poland and Iran dates back to 544 years ago and we have always enjoyed good ties with Iran. However, in order to strengthen such relations, we should also boost our cultural ties,” he said.

“We have screened films made by the directors of the two countries both in Polish festivals and Fajr Film Festival in Tehran; nevertheless the same is not true about books and we should do more about this. Poland has major book fairs held in this cities of Warsaw and Kraków; so, I hope that in terms of book fairs we will also have a practical collaboration,” he added. 

Domański has worked as an analyst in the Brussels-based think tank - European Policy Centre. He is also the author of numerous publications, academic teacher and speaks English, French, Spanish, Russian and Ukrainian.

Graduated from the Institute of International Relations of Warsaw University. He also studied in Lyon, Moscow, Paris and at Harvard University.

Following the session, Javadi (PhD) who is also Iran’s Deputy Culture Minister, stated that Tehran Book Fair is the most significant book event in the country: “Here, we host over 50 countries from across the world and as well as displaying and selling books, we provide the ground for dialogue among the literati from all participating countries.”

For his part, Javadi also stressed the long term good relations with Poland saying that he hopes the new generations of people in Iran and Poland would improve their cultural interactions: “We are also interested in more collaboration in terms of participation at our book fairs and interactions in the fields of cinema, books and other items of culture and art.”
