Cultural fairs, forums for the best diplomacy

Speaking at the meeting “Role of Persian Language in General Diplomacy”, Tajik journalist and writer said that cultural fairs and books provide the ground for the best type of diplomacy.

Tajik journalist and writer Faiz Bakhsh suggested that during the last days he has spent in Tehran, he has observed that Iranians and Tajiks are similar in terms of appearance and height.

“Iran and Tajikistan are like children of the same parents and due to such brotherhood and sisterhood, our relations will never be strained,” he said. 

Referring to numerous Persian words used in Tajikistan, Faiz Bakhsh added: “Not only the best companion is book, but it is also the most significant media for establishing human communication and making people closer to each other.”

Following the event, Faliheh Kazemi (PhD), the professor of Persian language at Lahore College for Women University which is an independent women's university in Lahore, Pakistan described the situation of Persian language in this city as the most cultured city of Pakistan: “All three universities of Lahore has Persian language chairs and teach this course up to the level of PhD. In our University we have 600 students of Persian language studying in six departments.

Referring to the research programs on Persian language which are underway at Lahore College for Women University, Kazemi stated: “A part of our research activities are focused on ‘Shahnameh’ (Book of Kings) by Ferdowsi and the other Persian language poets who inspired by Ferdowsi wrote their own Shahnamehs.”

“We have also translation projects as we have translated the book, ‘The Pilgrimage’ by Jalal Al-e Ahmad and we are going to translate ‘Shahnameh’ by Ferdowsi as well. Also, we are doing research on Persian proverbs used by the people of Pakistan. All these programs are carried out to introduce the Iranian regional culture to Pakistanis,” she added.
