In explaining the details of this meeting Ismail Janalipour said: "Considering the fact that about three years have passed since the Tehran International Book Fair was last held in person, we are looking for the participation of the maximum number of publishers." Therefore, we tried to hold several meetings with foreign publishers to explain to them everything related to the terms and conditions of the fair rulebook and address their possible ambiguities and questions.
The Director of the Foreign Publishers Committee of the 33rd Tehran International Book Fair stated: "We welcome books and works domestically available to be placed in the Customs warehouse located in Imam Khomeini's prayer hall so that the book review work can begin immediately and books make it to the fair on time."
Janalipour pointed to other issues raised in this meeting and said” to facilitate customs affairs and the process of streamlining customs clearance of goods, we informed foreign publishers of availability of some facilities in Customs so that as soon as the cargo moves from the place of origin, they can provide us with the necessary documents. In this case, we, in cooperation with the Customs, will pre-declare so the books can be cleared faster and reach the exhibition on time.
He added “the discount cap of the physical sales section for foreign publishers in this period of the exhibition has been reduced from 30% to 15% to allow for partial compensation the costs of renting the pavilions etc. Also, in the virtual sales section of the exhibition, a 30% discount and a 20% subsidy have been considered.
In the end, Esmaeil Janalipour said: "additionally, thanks to the assistance received as also the time remaining to edit the information in the registration system and put in the information of foreign publishers, we saw an increase of about 20% in the number of books uploaded in the Tehran International Book Fair website." Also, the area of the pavilions increased by about 25%”, he added.
The 33rd Tehran International Book Fair is scheduled to be held from 11 to 21 May, 2022 in two parts: in person in Imam Khomeini's prayer hall and virtual at ketab.ir website.
