The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution visited the Thirty-fifth International Book Fair of Tehran.
According to the news headquarters of the Thirty-Fifth International Book Fair of Tehran, Ayatollah Khamenei, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Monday morning, May 13, attended the fair located in Imam Khomeini Mosalla for three hours and visited several booths.
During this visit, the Supreme Leader of the Revolution, while talking with publishers, authors, and owners of book stands, was closely informed about the new publications and the status of the book market, as well as the level of welcome of the exhibition.
After visiting the book fair, in an interview Ayatollah Khamenei cited his motivation for such a visit as primarily personal desire and interest in the book, adding that: Another reason to visit the book fair is to lay the groundwork for promoting books and reading culture.
Ayatollah continued: I believe that all people of different ages and scientific classes need books, and nothing can take the place of books.
Referring to the impact of cyberspace on the subject of reading, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution noted that: cyberspace should not take the place of reading books, and the book should always have its place in the shopping bags and in the schedule of people's time.
Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that officials of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and the Islamic Propaganda Organization should help those who are active in publishing and producing books: Of course, there is some support in this section and this process should continue, but the other important thing is that cyberspace activists should consider promoting books and reading as one of their tasks.
He noted that: Cyberspace activists introduce and promote well-written books in various fields of science, literature, history, art, religious and doctrinal issues, and in a word "useful" books.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution pointed to a few notable points at this year's book fair.
ayatollah Khamenei said: The increase in new work, the increase in the number of books, and the frequent reprinting of some books are among the good news of this year's exhibition.
The final part of the speech of the Leader of the Revolution was an important recommendation to officials and devices dealing with teenagers and young people.
ayatollah Khamenei noted that: "Agencies such as the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the advertising and artistic field organizations should make efforts in producing books suitable for the younger generation, and "The Ministry of Education" and "Ministry of Sciences" should also be more active in the field of promoting book reading between adolescents and young people to provide them both the context of reading and a good book.
He considered one of the serious needs for the younger generation to produce books on the description of various events and issues, and added that: In the field of theorems such as constitutionality, sacred defense, "Islamic Revolution" and prominent and unique characters such as Imam Khomeini, there is no suitable book, or the number of "readable books" is very low, and there should be efforts in the production of suitable books in these subjects for the younger generation.
The thirty-fifth period of the Tehran International Book Fair with the slogan "We Read, We Build" takes place in Imam Khomeini Mosalla from May 8 till May 18, and also online in ketab.ir .
