27th TIBF comes to a close

27th Tehran International Book Fair has come to a close after ten days of work.

Over 3,000 publishers from home and abroad joined the landmark cultural event, occupying over 4500 pavilions.

Authorities estimate the sales of up to 70 million dollars have taken place in the 10-day event. Afghanistan was the special guest of this year's edition of the book fair with prominent authors of the country attending special panel discussion on the status of narrative literature and poetry in Afghanistan, among others.

And in a closing ceremony, best pavilions were honored.

In the closing ceremony, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Ali Jannati said the ministry has planned to launch a nationwide campaign for the objective of useful study. The minister also talked of ministerial programs for reaching the best ranking in the Middle East in publication affairs before 2024.

Also, Parliament Speaker, Ali Larijani said the western sanctions were partly aimed to affect the attitude and resolve of the Iranian nation however the huge welcome to the book fair and publications as a whole shows the western effort has been futile.
