Book fair, best chance for cultural exchange among ECO member states

ECO Cultural Institute (ECI) keeps a pavilion in Tehran International Book Fair like in previous years.
Abbas Nazari, director of ECI cultural and art associations and circles believes that the goal of the pavilion is to expand cultural and art activities in ECO member states.
He said the ECO cultural institute with cooperation of the cultural department of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance has provided 10 pavilions for the seven-strong body where the member states can present the cultural affairs of their countries.
He said the ECI pavilion has allocated a daylong period to any of the member states so that their scientific and cultural delegates which are present in the fair could stage their desired programs and deliver lectures in the House of Authors in the fair's compound.
The ECO official also touched on a series of programs held in praise of scientific and cultural honors of ECO member states in the fair's compound, adding that a commemoration ceremony was held for the Pakistan's prominent figure Iqbal Lahouri last year and that in the ongoing edition of fair, as UNESCO has named the year 2009 after Ferdowsi, the book fair to will commemorate the Persian poet and philosopher.
Different foreign scientific and cultural figures will attend the program, he added.
