Switzerland in eight consecutive editions of Tehran Book Fair

Having behind a record seven consecutive presences in Tehran International Book Fair, Swiss Publishers association took its pavilion also in this edition of Tehran Fair so that an already developed cultural relationship with the Iranian publishers keeps track of growth.

According to Ms Rigular Von Bergen, director of international section in the Swiss association of Publishers s, Switzerland has primarily kept presence in Tehran Fair for cultural interaction and exchange as well as publication projects.

She said her team stages different programs in every edition in keeping with the goal, including seminars in the compound of the fair and universities across Tehran, all attended by Swiss cultural personalities and authors among other.

Von Bergen said the cultural department of her union sets aside an annual fund for its presence in book fairs and other cultural projects in other countries. "To materialize the goal, we make use of different possibilities including making invites to certain Swiss authors for presence in book fairs," she added. The Swiss official went on to say that by presence in Tehran Book Fair, the Swiss side has met some of its objectives.

She outlined major programs of the Swiss pavilion as handovers of translation rights and copyrights of several Swiss titles to Iranian publishers, meeting folk publishers anew with whom the side got acquainted in previous editions in Frankfurt Book Fair, and finally making invites to some publishers for making presence in Swiss pavilion in Frankfurt Book Fair.

Rigular Von Bergen concluded her remarks by making a statement about Tehran Book Fair. "It seems that this fair considering the volume of visits is among the largest book fairs in the world; it really could not be compared with other fairs."
