A prospective bill of copyright is expected to receive stamp of approval in the parliament at an early date, Mohsen Esmaili, member of the Constitutional Guardian Council said, adding that the IRI lawmakers were purposely seeking to remove the country's problems in print and publication affairs, especially at international levels.

Esmaili said in his inspection of the pavilion of Soroush publisher in Tehran Book Fair that a draft bill on copyright has been drawn up in the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and as soon as the Ministry hands a bill to parliament after a quick review of the draft, copyright would become law as the lawmakers are serious in this regard.

The Constitutional official believed that following the approval of the copyright bill, all the existing problems in the print and publication domain will be fixed.

Asked about possible ways to boost book reading propensity nationwide, Mohsen Esmaili offered several proposals: enhancement of schools-based libraries, production of books which appeal to different age groups and tastes, payment of more subsidies as a way to slash book prices, simplification of access to public libraries (accessibility at a lower time or cost), enhancement of book design and pagination, distribution of financial grants among publishers and authors and finally ratification of copyright bill.
