Alberto Bradanini, Italy's Ambassador to Tehran told the news arm of the 22nd Tehran International Book Fair that fairs which specifically focus on cultural affairs, including international book fairs, must not settle for sales or presentation affairs rather they must become a stage for dialogue and exchange of thoughts through specialized panels with an eye on cultural exchange and development of mutual acquaintance.
Bradanini believed that in order to boost volume of book reading in the four corners of the world, educational programs must focus on school age children and promote the issue among early schoolers.
He expressed his interests in book reading, adding that there was a mutual relationship between culture and love of knowledge so that an interest in knowledge turns into an incentive for book reading. "I never forget a daily moment of book reading because I wish to promote my knowledge," he said.
The Italian Ambassador then invoked Taoist thoughts in his argument, quoting Taoists as saying that man will go free once he can free himself from a need to knowledge. "Put it another way, as long as there is a love of knowledge there is a love of book either; man is always busy looking for something," he elaborated.
