President Ahmadinejad to lead 24th book fair inaugural ceremonies

IRI President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is set to lead special ceremonies for the inauguration of the 24th edition of the Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) on May 3, according to Bahman Dorri, chief executive of the cultural event.
The chief executive was speaking on Monday, April 11 to a council of deputies of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance where he delivered a report on the latest developments and measures taken for the landmark, annual cultural event.
The chief executive then touched on the motto designated for this year's book fair, saying the 24th TIBF strategically seeks "to promote religious knowledge and cultural insight in the year of Economic Jihad," pointing to the title of the current Iranian year, designated by the Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei in a March 21 New Year Day speech.
Dorri then thanked the metropolitan civil institutions for their cooperation in the process of staging of the book fair.
As for publishers' statistics, Dorri said the number of domestic publishers qualified for the upcoming event exceeds 2,000. The cultural authority said no other cultural event was out there in the country to shoulder with the TIBF ceremonies either in terms of quality or quantity.
The 24th book fair compound would open in a lot of land 120 thousand square meters in area, Dorri said, expressing hope the pavilions would be handed to publishers several days earlier then the date of inauguration.
In another regard, the deputy minister in cultural affairs said his team have had to cut in the area of pavilions earmarked for foreign publishers after a larger than expected number of applications were placed by foreign publishers.
Dorri then elaborated on transport and parking services on offer for the visitors, saying that no more parking space problem would take place in this year's edition and that subway service, taxi service and bus service were on offer in sufficient numbers for the visitors.
The 24th book fair would open to public on May 4 and would run for 10 days. The pavilions are set up inside the compound of Imam Khomeini Mosalla (grand mosque), north of Tehran.
