Iranian children who show signs of promise in illustration or storytelling in children sections in Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) will be identified by a team of talent scouts, according to director of a TIBF section dedicated to children’s entertainments and activities.
Works of such budding illustrators will also be published in special books, Mohammad Taqi Haqbin told the press office of the 25th edition of the landmark cultural event.
In previous editions, separate pavilions, run by different institutes, were in charge of children’s activities and entertainments, each pursuing its own agenda and objectives, the director said, adding that a TIBF policy-setting committee, established by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, decided to change the precedence and concentrate the program in the 25th edition.
According to the director, the TIBF section hosts several cultural sub-sections, including a painting station, an illustration workshop, an exhibit of top illustrations, a ‘meet with authors and learn to write’ station, a storytelling station, and a book publication station where children get familiar with different stages of book production, including typesetting, book binding, and lithography.
Children who show signs of talent in illustration or writing will be identified by special trainers in the section and their works will be collected in compact discs to be published later in a special book after the 25th edition of the landmark cultural event closes, the section’s director said.
