Iranian people have massively welcomed the 25th edition of Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) as thoroughfares adjacent to the fairground north of Tehran witnessed masses of people flocking to inspect the landmark cultural event.
Masses of people queue behind the gates of the Imam Khomeini Mosalla (grand mosque) nearly an hour before the TIBF event opens, the TIBF press office reported Friday.
Tehran International Book Fair started work in Tehran on May 2 and runs through May 12 with the gates of the book fair open to the public at eight o’clock a.m.
A TIBF committee in charge of public relations has estimated that over 700,000 people inspected the fair in two days. Relevant information are collected from the points of arrival, subway stations leading to the fairground, bus and taxi lines leading to the fairground as well as parking lots across the vast TIBF fairground.
On Thursday, human traffic has nearly hit a gridlock in the section of general Persian titles in the main hall of the TIBF fairground while sales in the section of foreign language titles were relatively brisk.
Several state authorities have already inspected the major event, namely director of assessment board in the IRI Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution, Hassan Qafourifard, Chairman of Tehran City Council, Mehdi Chamran, Friday prayers leader of the northern Gilan City, Ayatollah Zain-ol-Abedin Qorbani, Curator of the IRI National Library, Ishaq Salahi, and members of parliament, Karim Zare’, Zohre Elahiyan and Ali Motahhari.
