Spokesperson of the IRI Foreign Ministry Ramin Mehmanparast described an ‘Islamic Awakening’ marquee in the 25th edition of Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) as a beacon of the landmark cultural event, urging the TIBF authorities to replicate such diplomatic initiatives in any next editions.
Mr. Mehmanparast was speaking to TIBF press office Friday during an inspection of the special TIBF section, dedicated to the ongoing Islamic Awakening movement in the Middle East and South African countries, otherwise erroneously called by the mainstream western media as ‘Arab spring.’
“The marquee shows that the book fair is moving abreast of international developments,” the spokesperson said, adding that the Iranian people wish to know more about the ongoing situation in Muslim countries and that the people feel that the number of followers of the Islamic Revolution has grown.
The spokesperson called the TIBF a major cultural event at an international level, adding that the exceptional number of visitors to the book fair was evident of the sublime cultural position of the Iranian nation, the TIBF press office reported.
“The veteran Iranian nation having been enjoying a long history and civilization has indeed many ideas to make in the world,” Mr. Mehmanparast said, adding that the TIBF book fair could play a major role in having the ideas conveyed to the world.
The spokesperson called the 25th edition a step forward in terms of quality of titles on exhibition stands, adding that the country’s development was depending on the levels of accessibility of people to useful publications.
The 25th edition of Tehran International Book Fair will be wrapped up on May 12 following a special closing ceremony.
