Those foreign publishers who have scored a violation-free performance in the 25th edition of Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) by complying with the TIBF regulations are eligible for a major discount in pavilion rental costs, TIBF President Bahman Dorri said.
The TIBF president was speaking to a press conference in the ninth day of the 10-day, major international event, according to the book fair’s press office.
Mr. Dorri said the authorities would not tolerate any violations of regulations, including exhibition or sales of any materials that are deemed to be in breach of the TIBF’s authorized content. He cautioned that repeated violations might be subject of a shutdown order.
Contents on such deviant sects as Bahaism or Wahabism and titles carrying fake maps of Persian Gulf or containing the ‘A-r-a-b-i-a-n gulf’ misnomer are deemed unauthorized, the TIBF president said, noting however that the 25th TIBF event has witnessed a sharp fall in the number of such violations.
Mr. Dorri said such violations were mostly committed by several Arab and European publishers. He declined however to name those violating publishers for diplomatic reasons.
Asked whether any publishers form Bahrain were present in the book fair, the TIBF president said Al Khalifa regime had barred any Bahraini publishers from joining the landmark international cultural event, however several Bahraini publishers operating overseas were present in the book fair while several home-based publishers were represented by other Arab publishers.
The 25th edition of Tehran International Book Fair will be wrapped up on May 12 following a special closing ceremony.
