Islamic Republic of Iran and Pakistan agreed Saturday to exchange publications and jointly produce movies on their eminent personalities.

The decision came during a meeting between the IRI Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Sayyed Muhammad Husseini and Pakistani Federal Minister for the Ministry of National Regulations & Services, Firdous Ashiq Awan.

The meeting was held in Imam Khomeini Mosalla (grand mosque) north of Tehran, the venue of the 25th edition of Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF), following a closing ceremony for the landmark cultural event, according to Iran Book News Agency (IBNA).

The Pak minister in the session highlighted the existing mutual cultural bonds between the two countries, adding that the two sides could build on their common bonds to widen the current mutual exchanges, especially in cultural spheres.

Ms. Ashiq Awan believed that various fairs or exhibitions held in the two countries could be a favorable venue for both countries to widen their cultural exchanges.

The IRI minister described the talk as positive in short remarks made to reporters following the meeting, saying that the two sides underlined their mutual determination for further excavation of untapped common linguistic, cultural and literary grounds.

Mr. Husseini said the IRI was operating houses of culture in different Pakistani cities where programs are on offer on Persian language teaching.

The 25th edition of Tehran International Book Fair kicked off in Tehran Wednesday, May 2 and ran for 10 days. Over six million people inspected the book fair, setting a record worldwide in terms of the number of visitors to any book fair ever recorded.
