Over 6 million people inspect 25th TIBF event

Over six million people inspected the 25th edition of Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF), setting a record worldwide in terms of the number of visitors to any book fair ever recorded, Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) reported Saturday.

The 25th edition of the major international event kicked off in Tehran Wednesday, May 2 and ran for 10 days. It opened doors to the public on May 3 in Imam Khomeini Mosalla (grand mosque) north of Tehran and was tackling average six hundred thousands of visitors a day.

Per capita sale of publications on display in the book fair was average 20.5 dollars, according to available figures quoted by the IRI Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Sayyed Muhammad Husseini at a press conference Saturday.

Nearly 27 percent of the inspectors used government-sponsored vouchers to purchase their favorite titles, the minister said, adding that up to 35 percent of the visitors had inspected the book fair for a first time.
