Opening of the Muscat Book Fair/Commencement of the Iranian Stand Activities

The Twenty-Third Edition of the Muscat Book Fair was opened at 18:00 (Feb. 21, 2018). Concurrent with the opening of the Muscat Book Fair, activities of the Iranian Stand started.

According to a report by the Public Relations Department of the ICFI, the Twenty-Third Edition of the Muscat (Oman) Book Fair is being held from Feb. 21 to Mar. 3. With 500 titles of books and CDs in Persian, Arabic and English languages, Islamic Republic of Iran has participated in this edition of the Muscat Book Fair on an area of 27 sq. m.
The first edition of the Oman Book Fair was held in 1992. In this year, 783 publishers have participated in the book fair. 603 publishers have participated directly while another 183 have participated through their representatives. Salalah (a city in Oman) is the special guest of this book fair with special programmes to show the cultural richness of this city.   
Iran Cultural Fairs Institute is attending the book fair as the representative of the publishing industry of our country to showcase 500 titles of books and CDs in genres such as Iran studies, literature, children and young adults, religion, Persian language teaching, art and calligraphy. Inviting the publishers to attend the Tehran International Book Fair in the form of catalogs and brochures, and introducing the Translation Grant Project are among the activities of the Iranian Stand. Also, an Iranian institute that produces software with Shiite contents in Arabic language has participated in the Iranian Stand. In order to hold an illustration workshop in the stand, two Iranian illustrators (Ghazaleh Bigdeli and Attefeh Malelijou) have been deployed to illustrate in the place.
