President Rouhani: government does not intend to practice censorship

 At the opening ceremony of the 27th Tehran International Book Fair held on Tuesday, April 29, the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that the government has no intention to practice censorship in the works of art and culture, stressing that thinkers and artists do not need to be guided and controlled.
According to IBNA correspondent, the president congratulated the inauguration of the 27th TIBF to authors, publishers and all who are involved in book printing industry. He said: “Books represent human thinking and wisdom, and the creators of books are as respectable as the books themselves. However we should not pay such respect simply in the speeches and statements, but in our law and social legal security of those who create works of culture and art.”
“Islam is a religion which does not belong to any particular country or ethnicity. Book is also a source of connection between all human beings, so like Islam it stands above all political or geographical boundaries,” the head of the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution stated. 
Elsewhere in his remarks in, the president welcomed constructive criticism against the government, but insisted that it's not reasonable for some media which are financed by the national funds to spread lies and try to damage a government which has been elected by the nation, particularly at the time when the Iranian nation has shown that it seeks tranquility, Justice and development.
