In a ceremony for honoring the national day of Persian Gulf, Head of Iran's Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization (ICHTO) said many geographic–historical works testify to the identity and value of the Persian Gulf and researches on this issue must be highlighted
According to IBNA correspondent, Masoud Sultanifar who is also a deputy to President Rouhani stressed that Persian Gulf and its 14 lands which have a huge economic potential are important to Iran from the various aspects.
“They have amazing regions, coastlines and historical places which are significant in terms of tourism industry and we are hopeful about growing investment in them to develop tourism. Persian Gulf connects Asia to Europe and plays an important role in regional and international communication,” he said.
A researcher and faculty member of Tehran University, Mohammad Baqer Vosouqi also stated: “Iran is one of the fewest countries in the world which is seen as the paradise of archeologists whose many parts are still unknown and ICHTO has a huge responsibility in realizing the unknown facets of the Iranian civilization.”
“Iran’s islands and ports in the Persian Gulf are among such regions and due to this fact, they have always enjoyed both geographical and cultural unity in the historical documents as it has been reflected in the classic geographic Greek, Roman, Indochina works and above them in the Islamic geographic schools,” he said.
“Based on evidences and historical documents the name, Persian Gulf has been inscribed in the human historical memory, a point which has been documented by scientists from Greece, Rome, Europe and the United States,” the scholar added.
