Best foot put forward for staging of 23rd book fair event

Chief Executive of the 23rd International Tehran Book Fair vowed the authorities of the event would put their best foot forward in staging of this edition of fair.

 

Mohsen Parviz expressed hope the event would become a major show with least of problems after several modifications to location of pavilions and layout of fair booths.

 

Parviz said facilities for sales of books were up for grabs by university students, government staffs and educationalists, with university students eligible to receive facilities for sales in both domestic and foreign sections.

 

The Chief Executive made the remarks in a talk show on channel four of the IRIB (the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting organization) on Tuesday night.

 

Parviz elaborated on the agenda and calendar of the event in the talk show, saying that there were modifications to location of pavilions as the main Shabestan (esplanade) of the Imam Khomeini grand mosque, the venues of the 23rd book fair, was not available to the organizers.

 

He noted that pavilions of academic publishers and publishers of children and youngsters materials were set up in a large section of parking lots in the grand mosque, asking for visitors to do use public transportation services as effectively there was no space available for car parking especially in the eastern side of the grand mosque.

 

Parviz also noted that precautionary measures were adopted for publishers which have their pavilions set up under tents in open air so that their activities would not be disturbed by adverse weather conditions or probable precipitations.

 

23rd International Tehran Book Fair opens on May 5, 2010 at Imam Khomeini Grand Mosque north of Tehran. The major event runs until May 25.
