Vice President urges translation movement for Persian works

IRI Vice President in Parliamentary Affairs urged for a translation movement for rendering of Persian works into major international lingua francas, adding that translation was an effective vehicle for presentation of Iranian works to the world.

 
Sayyid Mohammad-Reza Mirtajodini told the press office of the 23rd Tehran book fair that a translation movement would help present Iranian works in the eyes of world, adding however that major works in science, literature, history, poetry and art must be selected for translation.
 
He said a top agenda of the government and the parliament in the writing and ratification of 1389 Budget was to render supports to home print industry as well as other cultural activities. "The parliament approved the undertaking and even promoted it in some spheres," the vice president added.
 
Mirtajodini also touched on several related measures by the government in its provincial tours, saying that a sizeable fund has been allocated to provinces with the aim of promotion and expansion of book reading habit as well as print industry.
