Managing Director of Tehran Subway suggested retain the premises of Imam Khomeini Grand Mosque, north of Tehran as a venue for staging of Tehran Book Fair citing its cultural and inspirational ambience even though a larger fairground called Shahr-e Aftab was in the making south of Tehran to that end.
The subway manager believed that the present fairground was an appropriate venue for the cultural event, adding that fairground would receive a major boost once two verandas east and west of the grand mosque become ready for exploitation.
He noted that the cultural ambience of the grand mosque was merited over Shahr-e Aftab complex in that the former was informed by revolutionary causes and values, suggesting retain the grand mosque as venue for the staging of the major cultural event even after the large cultural complex was commissioned.
