Ferdowsi Foundation to stage special programs in 23rd edition

Iran-based Ferdowsi Foundation has planned to stage several training workshops on Shahnama, the magnum opus of the renowned Persian poet Ferdowsi, and to offer related products for sales.
The workshops come as a lateral activity in the 23rd Tehran book fair as world prepares to commemoration a millennium of Shahnama creation, the foundation's Secretary General told the book fair's press office.
Yaser Movahedfar said the training workshops will present several Shahnama-related handicrafts including mosaic work, traditional coffee shop illustrations, calligraphy and gilding.
The one-hour workshops are slated to run from May 10 to May 15 at 3 PM every day.
Several panels are also planned to be held in the foundation's pavilion with such themes as religious eulogy performance and Shahnama epic reading.
According to Movahedfar, the pavilion has on stalls several cultural commodities including an 8-volume book on Shahnama tales simplified for children and youngsters, a Rostam and Sohrab puzzle as well as Shahnama content software customized to render the content into Arabic, English and French.
Shahnama Millennium was registered in the UNESCO's list of global cultural events for 2010 and 2011, according to the director, who also said that a photo collection of Shahnama-related tableaux on show in national museums of Kakh Golestan, Moza Abbasi and Saadabad Complex are also on stalls in the pavilion.
A rare CD-bound collection of songs and ballads related to Mashruta Constitutional Movement era is also available in the pavilion.
