Top publishers of past calendar Iranian year awarded

An office in charge of the 23rd Tehran International Book fair announced a shortlist of top publishers of the past calendar Iranian year, 1388. The top publishers were chosen in several categories, namely capital-based private publishers, provincial-based publishers, state-affiliated publishers, publishers in section of children- and youngsters, adults as well as special section publishers.

 
According to a jury statement, several parameters and indicators, enshrined in a top publisher award policy, were taken into account in the assessment, namely quality of authored publications, number of new titles, diversity of titles, attention to particular audiences, appeal to scientific and cultural needs as well as religious and national values of society, good reputation among authors, translators and the rest of national publishing corps, compliance with technical standards, and finally, citations in credible domestic scientific and cultural festivals.
 
The jury granted the capital-based private publisher award in adults category to Sokhan publisher on account of diversity of titles, quality of titles in terms of technical printing standards, good reputation among authors, translators and the rest of national publishing corps, as well as citations in credible domestic scientific and cultural festivals.
 
In the same category, two publishers, Navid Shiraz and Imam Khomeini Educational and Research Institute, were granted jury award as top private provincial publishers.
 
Top jury award for state affiliated publishers of adults' content was jointly granted to tow publishers, namely Organization of Study and Compilation of Humanities Course Books or SAMT, and Sura Mehr.
 
Qadiyani publisher grabbed award of top children and youngster private publisher on account of appeal to scientific and cultural needs of society.
 
In provincial private publishers and state publishers of children and youngsters' content, Oruj Andisha and Center of Intellectual Promotion of Children and Youngsters were awarded.
 
Boraq publisher too was awarded for its home-grown illustration as well as records in international publishing.
 
In special section, several publishers were awarded, namely Revayat Fat'h Cultural Institute publisher, Sarir publisher and Sura Mehr publisher on account of their invaluable titles on the memoirs of the Scared Defense era (1980-88).
