A 120-strong delegation from Iraq inspected the 24th Tehran International Book Fair on May 5 Thursday, the second day of the landmark cultural event.
The delegation was made up of Iraqi instructors, university professors, seminarian researchers, and staffs of Iraqi research centers, according to the book fair's press office.
Sheikh-el-Islami an aide to Iranian parliament speaker told the press office that the members of the academic delegation, mainly specialized in history, sociology and anthropology, had visited Tehran upon a joint invitation, signed by the Iranian parliamentary library, Tehran University's Department of Theology, and Ayatollah Mar'ashi Najafi Library.
The inviters sought to provide an appropriate opportunity for those Iraqi academics who specifically study Iran-related issues to expand their knowledge and exchange views with Iranian peers, the aide said.
He expressed hope the cultural gesture would set a friendly and proper stage for exchanges of through and culture.
