Sudanese official: Massive welcome to TIBF shows book figures in Iranian public life

A strong welcomed accorded by domestic and foreign publishers to the book fair besides favorable facilities at hand across the fairground and high number of visitors altogether show that the Iranian government and people are committed to question of book reading, a Sudanese official said.

 

Amin Hassan al-Amin, who was representing Sudan Ministry of Culture in the 24th edition of Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF), made the remarks to Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) Friday on the sidelines of the landmark cultural event.

 

The Sudanese culture ministry's official said based on his previous experiences, he could estimate the levels of participation in Tehran International Book Fair was 80pc compared to other book fairs staged ever across the Middle East.

 

Al-Amin appreciated the TIBF authorities for their excellent and generous treatment of the visiting delegation, adding that he and his companions were so generously treated that they felt as if they were in their own country.

 

Asked about the type and content of publications the Iranian visitors were more compelled to browse or buy in Sudan pavilion, he said publications on study of Arabic and study of Sufism were more browsed or bought than any other titles.

 

He said Sudanese pavilion offered a group of titles on cultural matters, penned by renowned Sudanese authors, including Professor Abdullah at-Tayyib, and prominent man of pen, as-Sa'alih.

 

Mr. al-Amin expressed hope that the next edition of the book fair (May 2012) would provide an opportunity for publishers to exchange views with one another on different issues of print and publication.
