Head of central office of Islamic Revolution Leader told a closing ceremony of the 24th edition of Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) on May 14 that the landmark cultural event was in need of a far more appropriate venue so as to facilitate access for visitors.

National anthem was played out to kick off the ceremony and then the participants listened to several verses of the Holy Koran chanted by a muqri, according to Iran Book News Agency (IBNA).

Ayatollah Mohammadi Gilani then delivered a speech acknowledging that the24th cultural event was a dramatic performance in light of the vast area of venue and the gigantic number of pavilions at hand in the fairground, IBNA added.

Ayatollah Gilani however noted that the space of Imam Khomeini Mosalla (grand mosque), the venue of the past four editions of the international book fair, was deficient for so large a cultural event. He said a much more appropriate venue should be considered for the book fair having better access and being free from traffic problems.

The personality then noted that publications have retained their historical intellectual position among the cultural circles and the public despite the emergence of such more advanced vehicles of thought and knowledge as the Internet.

He attached further significance to the paper vehicle of thought by saying that the legacy of Islam, from the era of the immaculate Shii imams to date, have reached us through books. He said if the vehicle of thought was not developed in the course of history, the legacy of Shia and namely the works of such master Alims as Sheikh Mofid, Allama Helli and Sheikh Tousi would have never been passed to the posterities, including the current time generation of Muslims.

Ayatollah Golpayegani than thanked the TIBF authorities for having the historic sermon of Hadhrat Fatema published in the fairground, adding that such themes must be studied by the society rather than being tucked into a corner of libraries.

Mr. Golpayegani then touched on a special attention paid every year by the Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei to the annual cultural event, saying that the great personality spends a substantial time every year to inspect the book fair so as to encourage the public for more book reading besides his personal interest in getting familiar with latest publications in the market.
