A special section will be dedicated for a first time to the case of Islamic Awakening movement in the Middle East and North Africa, Bahman Dorri, director of the 25th edition of Tehran International Book Fair told a press briefing session held in the ‘Public Culture Council’ conference hall on Monday.
 
The TIBF director began his remarks after unveiling a special poster designed for the 25th TIBF edition. He said different sections and special programs were planned for the edition with some of them to be staged for a first time.
 
A special ceremony will be held to mark a quarter of century of post-revolutionary cultural campaign in Iran, Dorri said, adding that the ceremony will be led by a senior state authority and that directors of previous editions of the TIBF events will be honored during the ceremony.
 
As for the Islamic Awakening section, Dorri said the special event was planned after waves of Islamic Awakening protests enshroud several countries in the Middle East and North Africa. The section will address and review the social and political developments in the countries involved, the TIBF director said.
 
During the 25th TIBF event, special panel discussions will also be staged with top Iranian authors and selected personalities of national literary awards on hand, Dorri went on to say, adding that a special hall, called ‘Hall of Yas (jasmine)’ will be dedicated to display the first-edition books published in the past Iranian year (ended March 20).
 
The TIBF director then briefed the press folks on the range and composition of domestic publishers on hand in the 25th edition, saying total 2,451 publishers had applied for the landmark cultural event to date, comprising 1,396 publishers of general subject books, 610 publishers of academic books, 299 publishers of children and youngsters-related books, and 146 publishers of educational books.
 
Domestic publishers will put on stalls total 207,170 titles in the 25th edition of TIBF, the director said.
