Up to 230 publishers of children-related books have joined the 25th edition of Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF), according to director of children’s sections in the landmark cultural event.

The number of publishers is similar to a previous edition held on May 2011, Borzou Sorouri told the TIBF press office, adding however that the publishers have put on display a larger number of related titles compared to the previous edition.

Publishers of children books have complained about space constraints, the director said, noting that in light of millions-strong welcome to the TIBF event, pavilions and booths in the children’s section were downsized in favor of wider hallways so that children and their parents could enjoy a safer passage and inspection.

A special subsection in the children’s hall has been dedicated to ‘prayer and decency,’ Mr. Sorouri said, adding that a sideline entertainment program was devised for the section by which to help children to pick an aptitude for book reading. The special program has been sponsored by the IRI Cultural Association of Children’s Books Publishers.
