Violation-free publishers to be honored by TIBF authorities

Any publisher that is not given any reprimand by an ad hoc TIBF disciplinary committee during the term of Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) will be honored and admired, TIBF press office quoted the book fair’s President Bahman Dorri as saying on Monday.

The TIBF president said foreign publishers attending in the international section of the book fair would be closely monitored for any breach of regulations, adding that the TIBF monitoring teams will particularly get tough on publications containing forged maps of the Persian Gulf or the ‘A-r-a-b-i-a-n gulf’ misnomer.

Mr. Dorri noted that a range of such publications sent by certain Arab publishers were blocked entry at border customs before arrival.

Other cases of violation under the TIBF regulations include promotion and peddling of such deviant sects as Wahabism and Bahaism as well as any material that may be deemed in breach of the territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the TIBF president noted.

The ad hoc committee has been assigned to monitor the materials on display across the fairground to see whether they comply with the TIBF regulations, Mr. Dorri said, adding that no pavilion has ever been shut down in the 25th book fair for such violations.

The TIBF president expressed hope the monitoring committee would not be demanded under the law to close any pavilions for such violations.
