Italian Ambassador in Tehran, Mauro Conchatori has reviewed the existing cultural relations between his country and the Islamic Republic of Iran in a meeting with Acting President of Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF), Amir Mas’oud Shahramnia.

During the meeting, the senior Italian diplomat called for broader cultural exchanges with the Islamic Republic.

The ambassador also handed the Iranian authority two titles on ancient history of Italy.

For his part, Shahramnia said he found Italy a scenic country with magnificent historical sites when he visited the European nation few years ago.

Conchatori had a similar idea of Iran, saying Iran embodies a rich history and civilization. The Italian ambassador singled out Persepolis as an exceptional ancient site, adding he was overwhelmed by the magnificence of the ancient Iranian site.

Turning to cultural relations between the two nations, Shahramnia said Iran and Italy have too many commonalities that behoove the two governments to enhance cultural exchanges between the two nations.

The Italian ambassador welcomed the TIBF authority’s idea, adding he would actively look for possible grounds to meet the stated goal.

Conchatori said Italian archeologists had already had the chance to work in Iran in the past, adding he hoped the grounds would be made available to have such exchanges in other cultural fields.
