Chinese authority offers translation of 10 top books into Persian

A director of China’s pavilion at the 28^th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) has offered rendering 10 top Chinese books into Persian to be later put on display in the next edition of the landmark cultural event in 2016.

Chu Chachu made the offer in a meeting with the acting president of the TIBF, Amir Mas’oud Shahramnia in Tehran on Friday.

The Chinese cultural authority said he had learned that many young Iranians are interested in learning Chinese, adding however too few books had been translated from Chinese into Persian to meet the interest.

The pavilion manager also maintained that there were few Iranians who have a good command of Chinese.

The Chinese cultural activist said his compatriots too have a desire to learn Persian, adding the two sides must plan to appeal to the motivation.

Chu offered the relevant bodies of the two nations have ten top books of their own nations translated into the other side’s language in a reciprocal exchange of cultural themes.

The Chinese authority also offered the cultural counselors of two sides to have language learning classes staged for the other side’s interested individuals.

Chu noted a strong level of exchanges between the two sides in business and trade, adding a strong bond must also be developed between the two nations in cultural affairs, including through book fair events.

For his part, Shahramnia admired the Chinese side for producing a stronger presence in electronic publication in this year’s TIBF event, compared to past year. The TIBF authority expressed hope China would follow the suit in software and content.

Shahramnia termed books the most efficient cultural tool for the establishment of relations between nations.

The TIBF acting president then welcomed the Chinese offer and urged China to show a yet stronger participation in the next edition of the landmark cultural event.
