A panel discussion is scheduled to be held at the 28th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) on the history and architectural traditions of Iran’s Sassanid era.

During the session, panelists are set to review ‘Iranian castles and fortresses,’ a title on the Sassanid architecture, penned by French historian and archeologist, Dr. Jean Claude Voizen who will also sit the panel discussion.

Other panelists are Deputy Head of the Iranian Cultural Heritage Organization, Dr. Bahman Namvar Motlaqa and assistant professor in architecture with Shahid Beheshti University, Dr. Sayyed Hossein Mo’ini.

The panel discussion is set to start at 14 P.M. at the TIBF section of ‘global market’ and is open to the public.

‘Iranian castles and fortresses’ was first published in 2013 in French and was translated into Persian by Mariyam Chehreqan and published the same year.

The French author has a doctoral degree in Middle Age history and archeology and for the past few years has ardently engaged in the study of the possible motivations behind the establishment of castles and fortresses in the Middle Eastern and Central Asian countries.

The French historian served as head of the French cultural center in the Lebanese capital, Beirut for five years until 2000. At the same time, he taught Middle Age archeology at Saint Joseph University in Beirut as visiting professor.

The ‘Iranian castles and fortresses’ recounts the findings of the French professor when he was visiting different corners of Iran in search of ancient castles and fortresses.

The book incorporates magnificent images of over 100 castles or fortresses countrywide, juxtaposed with captions or descriptions both in French and Persian.
