Manager of the Paris book fair, Bertrand Morisset says publication industry is the prime earner for the country, fetching the European nation twice the auto industry’s revenues.
The French official made the remarks on Sunday in a panel discussion on cultural exchanges between Iran and France that was held on the sidelines of the 28th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF).
The panel discussion was also joined by the TIBF Executive Manager, Amir Mas’oud Shahramnia and France Cultural Counselor, Terry Wale.
The French cultural official added that electronic games rank second in France among sources of revenues.
Highlighting the role of books in human life, Morisset said book reading may offer a toll for countering the problems of the modern life.
Next, French counselor, Terry Wale talked about Iran-France cultural relations, saying like France, Iran has a long history and the issue may serve as a key ground for understanding among the two nations.
French hugely welcome Iranian musical troupes that stage programs in the country, the cultural authority said, adding tickets of the Iranian programs are usually sold out quickly.
The 28th Tehran International Book Fair started work in Tehran on May 6 under the motto of ‘reading as talking to the world.’ It runs until May 16.
