Senior aide to the Islamic Revolution Leader in international affairs has urged the Iranian embassies to further set the stage for enhancing cultural relations with other nations, especially the neighbors.

Ali Akbar Velayati made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian cultural personalities held on Monday at the 28th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) that was also attended by the TIBF President, Sayyed Abbas Salehi.

The former foreign minister said Iranian emissaries should organize cultural and literary sessions overseas as a means of promoting Iranian cultural themes.

The senior aide touched on poetry nights by Germany’s Goethe Foundation or the American Franklin publishers’ language learning seminars held in the pre-revolutionary Iran as examples of such cultural schemes by other nations.

The politico-scientific personality then highlighted the significant of script and language of Persian and urged for special schemes to promote the status of Farsi worldwide.

In the meantime, the TIBF president offered to form a working group tasked with drawing up a blueprint for private sectors’ strategic projects to this effect.

Salehi also urged promoting publishers and illustrators of children’s books as part of the cultural packages.

The 28th Tehran International Book Fair started work in Tehran on May 6 under the motto of ‘reading as talking to the world.’ It runs until May 16.
