TIBF, top cultural event in Iran

Acting Head of the 28th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF), Amir Mas’oud Shahramnia says the Iranian publishing industry is expansive with over 2500 publishers engaged.

The senior TIBF authority made the remarks in a meeting with Georgian ambassador to Tehran, Ioseb Chakhvashvili.

Shahramnia said almost every Iranian publisher has used to join the landmark cultural event in one section or another in such s\themes as academic publications, children’s books, or general themes, making the fair the largest cultural event in the Islamic Republic.

The acting TIBF president then urged Georgia to join the next edition of the international event, adding the two sides may exchange publications.

“Many Georgian people have an intimate knowledge of Iranian authors,” Shahramnia said, adding Iran wishes to present the authors’ works in Georgia.

For his part, the Georgian ambassador said an official Georgian delegation will visit Iran next week, hoping the joint commission of the two neighbors would approve some provisions about mutual exchanges in publishing industry among other things.

The senior diplomat also said a document will be signed next week calling Tehran and Tbilisi (Georgia’s capital) sisters.
