In an interview with IBNA, Muharem Bazdulj analogized the literature to football.

Serbia is the Guest of Honor in this edition of the TIBF and Bazdulj is one of the special guests of the Serbian national stand.

Bazdulj comes from Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. Pleased with his first journey to Iran, he said, “This is the first time that I am having a trip o Iran and I hope I can visit more cities. We are scheduled to visit Shiraz and Isfahan and I hope that I will gain more experiences about the Iranian literature and culture.”

“I was surprised to see people of any age and educational groups,” he commented regarding the book fair. “In Serbia and other European countries, normally publishers and experts attend the book fairs for commercial purposes. Bit here, all the people come for the love of books.”

Bazdulj has four novels in his career the last of which ‘Byron and the Beauty’ is a fancy-romance as he says.

According to this young writer, his novels have been translated into many languages but he has not managed to collaborate with Iranian publishers yet. He is hopeful that he can communicate with Iranian publishers for translation of his works into Persian. The Serbian writer also said, “In my many poems by Iranian renowned poets such as Khayyam, Rumi, Saadi and Hafez are translated into Serbian, but I guess this is not all we know about the Iranian Culture.”

He added, “I think book fairs must be a place where publisher from different countries can communicate so that more books are translated into other languages.”

Bazdulj analogized the literature to football as for watching it translation is necessary but it does not need any interoperation to be understood. “Writers, like football players, will be attractive for the public when they are known. It is because of the writers of a country that her culture is known to other people of the world, and it is through the translation of works from various countries that deeper relationships will be formed between the people of the world,” he said.
