2000 books from Afghanistan showcased at 31st TIBF

The cultural activists of Afghanistan particularly the publishers of that country have tried to participate actively at the 31st Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF).


Actually the Afghans want to show that despite 40 years of ongoing war, and difficult condition imposed on them, books and reading are still alive in their country which is regarded as a part of the great Iranian culture.

Head of the Afghanistan’s Union of Publishers Shir-Ahmad Saeedi said that ten publishers from Afghanistan have participated at Tehran Book Fair; among them six publishers have directly come from Afghanistan and four others began their activities before the launch of book fair. 

Afghanistan is participating in this event with 2000 titles of books which all of them have been published during the last four years. 

“In 2017, 4500 titles published and be have brought 2000 titles to be displayed in TIBF,” he said.

“We have come to Tehran Book Fair to announce our active participation in this great cultural event of the Islamic world and the fact that culture and art are still alive in Afghan society,” Head of the Afghanistan’s Union of Publishers added.


The Publishing Industry in Afghanistan Is Still Moving Forward

Director of Taak Publishing in Afghanistan Sayyed Nader Mousavi said that they have attended Tehran Book Fair wheat 130 titles of books which among them 66 titles have been published for the first time.

“Despite economic, social, security problems as well as threats and so many difficulties we are facing with, fortunately, the publishing industry and book reading in our country are still alive and are moving forward,” Mousavi said.

“Each year, new books are introduced and the titles of books become more varied. On the other hand, the quality of books layout and printing is increasingly improved, which is promising for the young generation of people in Afghanistan,” Director of Taak Publishing added.

Zainab Haidari, Executive Director of Nama Rasaneh who is also director of stand of this Publishing House at the 31st Tehran International Book Fair said for her part that their institute was founded in 2006 in Afghanistan and began its activities in 2017 in the religious city of Qom in Iran.

“Our works have been aimed to improve cultural issues among the Afghan immigrants particularly the adolescents and the youth. We also try to play a role in boosting cultural relations between Iran and Afghanistan,” she stated.


Other Afghan publishing houses have participated at the 31st Tehran International Book Fair as well and the young Afghan people who are living in Iran are visiting the stands of the publishers from their country enthusiastically.
