Minister inaugurates 32nd Tehran International Book Fair

Culture Minister Seyyed Abbas Salehi said at the opening ceremony of the 32nd ‎Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) today that books will break the wall of economic ‎sanctions imposed on Iran. ‎
 
According to IBNA correspondent, the opening ceremony of the 32nd TIBF was held with Salehi as well as Mohsen Javadi, Director of the 32nd TIBF; Ghader Ashna, Deputy Director of the 32nd Tehran International Book Fair; Niknam Hosseinipour, CEO of Iran’s Book House Institute (IBHI) and a Chinese cultural delegation including writers publishers and officials of that country in attendance.

In his speech, Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance said that Iran has always been connected with other nations through books and cultural diplomacy for Wednesday attempts of some countries to isolate Iran.

“Iran is known all across the world through [masterpieces of Persian literature] such as ‘Shahnameh’, ‘Masnavi-e Manavi’, ‘Bustan’ ‘Golestan’, and other books which played a key role in the evolution of our language and literature.”

“Book is also instrumental in economic prosperity. For instance in China which is the guest of honor of the 32nd Tehran International Book Fair 46 million people are working in the print industry which proves the importance of books in job creating,” he stated.  

Tehran International Book Fair is the top Iranian book event held annually. The 32nd edition of this event is currently underway with the motto, “Reading Is Ability” and will run by May 4 in the Mosalla of Imam Khomeini in Tehran.

As the guest of honor in this event, China has brought a delegation of 200 members among them 100 authors, illustrators, and publishers representing the active print industry of that country.
