Tehran Book Fair provides platform to communicate with Iranian Publishers

Shamsuddin Kamas, an expert of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, says: the 34^th Tehran International Book Fair provided a platform for us to communicate with the people of Iran and its publishers.

Shamsuddin Kamas, an expert of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey adds to the 34th Tehran International Book Fair: This year, most Turkish publishers were present in the international section of this fair, and we will try to invite more publishers and authors in the coming years.

Following is the full text of the interview:

*What is the role of books in cultural diplomacy?

Books reduce the difference between nations of Turkey and Iran, in fact, the 34^th Tehran International Book Fair provides a platform for us to communicate with the people of Iran and to better examine the literature between the two countries.

In the shadow of the books, we were able to communicate with many publishers and provide a basis for future cooperation.

This fair made it possible for Turkish and Iranian publishers to get to know each other better and cooperate, and the basis for translation from Turkish to Persian and vice versa.

*How many book titles have you had in this fair?

We have brought 900 books, which are mostly in the field of children, but there are also other books on the subjects of history, biography, and design, and in addition, there are novels, poems, and Turkish stories.

*Do you have any plan for exchanging copyright with Iranian publications?

Our goal is that by coming to this fair, translate more books into Farsi and expand our communication.

*In this regard, what are your future plans?

Next year, we will consider almost the topics that we worked on this year. We will try to attend next year's Tehran International Book Fair with more books.

  This year, most Turkish publishers were present in the international section of this fair, and we will try to invite more publishers and authors in the coming years.

We will provide the experience of this fair to other Turkish publishers so that more publishers from Turkey will attend this fair in the coming years.

The 34th Tehran International Book Fair with the slogan “the future is to be read” started on the 10th of May and will continue until the 20th of May 2023 in the Mosque of Imam Khomeini and simultaneously on ketab.ir.
