Abd el-Rahman Murad, chairman of the Yemen Book Board, represented Yemen for the first time since the Yemeni Revolution and the Saudi-American aggression on its soil at the Tehran International Book Fair. It should be noted that this country accepted the invitation of Iran to participate as a special guest at the event.
Murad appreciated the Iranian authorities' invitation of Yemen as a special guest of the thirty-fifth event of TIBF and added that they are aiming for further participation between Iran's ministry and publications and Yemen in the field of expanding cultural relations and communication between the two countries.
He expressed regret about the special situation in Yemen, saying that although we could not exhibit all the valuable and important books of Yemen this year, books on Political, cultural, and historical events of Yemen were on display for visitors. According to Murad, Yemen will continue to attend such gatherings, and this country plans to present more books with a variety of subjects to other nations in the future.
The representative of Yemen further noted that this is the first official participation of Yemen in the international arena, thanks to the invitation of the country as a special guest by Iran, and since the Yemeni revolution, the country has not had official participation in international events. However, they tried to introduce this country as worthy of the noble people of Yemen and came with full strength to start a new beginning for the participation of this nation in the international scene.
Abd el-Rahman Murad continues: This is just the beginning for us, and the output of this exhibition is to create a cultural relationship and exchange between our nation and Iran and start a cooperation in the publishing industry between publishers of the two countries.
With regards to the Iranian Ministry of Culture for inviting Yemen as a special guest, he noted at the end that the agenda for translating Persian and Yemeni books is under the consideration by the Ministry of the two countries and hopes for a great cooperation.
