Mohammad Ikhlaq Azad stated that the number of books published in Iran is impressive, and the translation of Indian books into Persian creates a massive cultural exchange between the two countries.
Mohammad Ikhlaq Azad, an assistant professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, in an interview with the news headquarters of the 35th Tehran International Book Fair, expressed his interest in attending the Tehran Book Fair. He noted, "In Persian language, I am interested in topics such as Iranian studies, art, calligraphy, Persian language education, classical and contemporary literature, and children's and young adult literature. If I attend the Tehran Book Fair, I will definitely buy books on these topics. I have not yet had the experience of participating in the Tehran Book Fair, but I am keen to be a part of this event."
He continued, "Indian publishers should highlight the common challenges faced across geographical borders, rather than focusing solely on specific values. Additionally, special attention should be given to the new generation, offering a variety of options to young readers."
Regarding the impact of the Tehran Book Fair on cultural exchange between India and Iran, the assistant professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University said, "The Tehran International Book Fair brings together thousands of book lovers, readers, writers, publishers, researchers, education specialists, students, and literature enthusiasts from around the world. The number of books published in Iran is impressive, and the translation of Indian books into Persian creates a significant cultural exchange between the two countries. The number of translated Iranian books into Hindi and Urdu is also notable. He also mentioned the financial turnover of India's publishing industry, adding, "India has a $4.6 billion book market and is the second largest publisher of English-language printed books in the world, which can play an important role in cultural exchange."
In conclusion, Mohammad Ikhlaq Azad emphasized, "Literature has a significant impact on human life and provides us with historical knowledge. It also offers insights into the author's experiences, from which readers can learn a lot and improve their own lives."
The 35th Tehran International Book Fair, under the slogan "We Read, We Build," will be held from May 8 to May 18, 2024, at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla in person and on the ketab.ir platform.
