Exhibitions Play a Role in Cultural Encouragement

Mohsen Zanganeh, during his visit to the 35th Tehran International Book Fair, stated that exhibitions have a role in cultural encouragement. The Book Fair, due to the gathering of all written productions throughout the year, holds double the attraction for the audience.
According to the news committee of the 35th Tehran International Book Fair, Mohsen Zanganeh, the representative of Torbat Heydariyeh in the Islamic Consultative Assembly and a member of the Budget and Planning Commission, responded to the question of why the Book Fair does not have a specific budget line in the annual budget. He said, "The Book Fair is an event, and budgets are not allocated for events. Usually, budget lines are determined for organizations. These organizations hold hundreds of events, and the Book Fair is one example. Therefore, it is appropriate for us to support the organization and allocate a budget to it."
He added, "Exhibitions play a role in cultural encouragement. The Book Fair is particularly attractive because it gathers all written productions throughout the year. Furthermore, for ten days, books are at the forefront of the news, which is a positive point. Additionally, the Book Fair strengthens the publishing and cultural economy."
Zanganeh continued, "The focus of society is more on economic issues, which is why cultural topics are marginalized. I remember a time when people were more interested in artistic and cultural events. For example, when a book was published, the media would talk about it for several days. Unfortunately, now over 90% of discussions are about economic and political issues. Nowadays, festivals like Fajr or exhibitions don't excite people as they used to. Therefore, the Book Fair can rejuvenate the country's culture."
The 35th Tehran International Book Fair, under the slogan "We Read, We Build," will be held from May 8 to May 18, 2024, at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla in person and on the ketab.ir platform.
