Tony Hunt, Director of the UK-based Pathfinder Publishing, emphasized the importance of reading during critical historical junctures in an interview with the press center of the 36th Tehran International Book Fair. He stated, “Awareness of history and culture is essential for individuals.”

He added that Pathfinder Publishing, with over half a century of experience, has been active in Iran since 1992, and the Iranian public has shown great interest in its cultural productions.

Hunt also pointed to the impact of sanctions on the cost of living in Iran and expressed hope that through special discounts, their books could remain accessible to Iranian readers. He noted that the publishing house mainly focuses on subjects such as history, philosophy, and politics.

Referring to the positive reception of Pathfinder’s books in Iran, he discussed the global shift toward digital books and said: “Recently, there has been a revival in the use of physical books in the UK, indicating that people are still committed to reading printed material.”

He added, “Considering current events across the world, understanding history, culture, and society is crucial. "Reading these books can provide answers to their questions—for example, the book "The First Shots of World War III" offers insights into current global tensions."

The cultural figure also mentioned that the sanctions imposed on Iran have led to a higher cost of living than in many other countries. “We hope that with the substantial discounts we’ve offered, we can continue to provide our books to the people of Iran,” he said.

The Director of Pathfinder Publishing concluded by stressing, “Reading during critical moments in history is vital for the people.”

The 36th Tehran International Book Fair is being held from May 6 to May 16, 2025, under the slogan “Let’s Read for Iran”, at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla. At the same time, the virtual edition of the fair is also active, allowing visitors to purchase books online via book.icfi.ir.
